Mid Week Tease: The No Frat Clause #MidWeekTease #MWTease

MWTease15Happy Wednesday, folks! I’m running around like a headless chicken trying to get everything packed for Wild Wicked Weekend (more on that to follow in another post), so today I’m teasing you with a hot new romance from H.K. Carlton — enjoy this snippet from her delightful office romance The No Frat Clause.

Enjoy, and make sure to hit the list after the teaser to see other great Mid Week Teases!

Fresh out of college, Lexi Wideman lands an entry level job at a lucrative recruiting firm. Only six months into her tenure, she’s offered a major promotion—executive assistant to Roger Kent, the company’s coveted corporate headhunter. Older, irresistible, and ruggedly handsome, Roger Kent turns her into a liquid pool of need with just one smoldering glance. But the opportunity is just too good to pass up this early in her career. Lexi must find a way to remain professional while panting after her boss.

Roger Kent is thrown off guard when the company execs all of a sudden decide he needs an assistant. Perhaps he does, but Lexi Wideman is not the girl for him. She’s smart, young, and gorgeous. It’s hard enough trying to keep his eyes off her. Working in such close proximity, day after day, it would only be a matter of time before his hands followed.

So much for the No Frat Policy.

All of a sudden the lights flickered once again, and the lift jerked.

Lexi grabbed my thigh in panic. “Oh God!”

Oh God was right. Any higher and she was going to get a rock-hard handful.

I wound my arms around her, and we held on as the elevator came to shuddering halt. The lights went out entirely, plunging us into complete darkness. The hydraulic hum of the mechanics powering down droned. Then there was silence except for the clicking of the cables.

“Ohhh …” Lexi said in alarm.

“It’s okay. Take it easy,” I reassured her. “The auxiliary lights should come on in a second when the generators kick in.” But seconds ticked by and nothing happened.

“What’s happening?” she asked, her voice warbling.

“Power outage from the storm I’d say. Guess you were right, we should have taken the stairs.”

“Oh boy.” I felt her take a deep shuddering breath. She shifted, centering her back to my chest, and relaxed into me. I tried to maintain some distance, but there was no help for it, with her perfect little ass snugged right up against my upper thighs. There was no way she missed the massive bulge in my pants. She tensed, but she didn’t pull away either.

I inhaled her familiar scent. Another bad idea. It was just as arousing as the rest of her. She smelled fanfuckingtastic.

Her breathing became erratic. I was afraid she was about to panic.

“We’re okay. Relax.” I ran my hands up and down her arms.

She melted into me.

“Do you have your cell phone?” I asked in a tight voice. “We could use it for light. And-or call for help. At least let someone know we’re in here.”

“No, I left mine at the office. You?”

“I think I tossed mine in the briefcase. It’s down here by our feet somewhere.”

A ringing noise made us both jump.

I released her and groped in the dark until I found the little door containing the emergency phone. “Hello?” I answered in a clipped tone.

“What’s your name, and how many are with you?” a gruff voice barked.

“Roger Kent. There are two of us. Myself and my assistant.”

“We’re working on getting you down. Try not to panic.”

“All right, but can you do something about the auxiliary lighting?”

“The generators should engage anytime now. Sit tight.”

“Okay, we’ll sit tight. As if we have a choice,” I said as I hung up.

From the awkward way I’d been leaning, I straightened up slightly, rearranging my hips back into the corner. “We’re gonna be a while,” I said and reached for Lexi. It was pitch black. I couldn’t make out a goddamn thing. “Where’d ya go? Christ, it’s dark.”

“I’m searching for the cell.” Just then my palm made contact with a nicely rounded hip. Oh fuck, she was bent over in front of me. I followed the soft plump curve as she rooted through the briefcase. I closed my eyes and took long, slow inventory of her shapely backside. I stifled a groan, but it escaped as more of a grunt.

Slowly, she straightened and turned in my direction. The low light from my cell screen glowed, illuminating the space between us.

The tension between us was palpable. She stared at me. Her lips parted. I don’t know what she saw in my expression. One of us made a growling sound. I suspect it was me.

Simultaneously, she dropped the phone and reached for me as I grabbed for her. I sought her lips hungrily as the darkness enveloped us once more. She moaned something incoherent into my mouth.

In a wild frenzy, we nipped and sucked at each other’s mouths, our hands roamed free and greedily. My cock lengthened to painful proportions.

Lexi arched into me, her ample breasts pressing against my upper chest. She squirmed as I tried to gather her sweet backside in my greedy hands. Lifting her, I thrust my hips at her, leaving no doubt as to what I wanted.

In answer, she pressed her pelvis against me. The pressure felt amazing, but I wanted more.

“Yeah,” she cried softly. “Yeah …”

Fuck yeah!

DragonsHonorFinal2Set in a far-distant future, the Dragon Corps Series follows the members of the Human Alliance’s most feared fighting unit. Across the vast distances of space, the Dragons maintain justice and peace.

But the cost is high. Cade Williams, a soldier with the potential to become a living legend, left the Corps after a mission that claimed not only the life of his target, a slave trader, but also the lives of every slave on the man’s ship. Vowing never again to kill, Cade has spent the last two years trying to put his past behind him. But when he finally runs out of options, it’s Talon Rift, his former commanding officer who finds him in the slums – and offers him a nice, easy job guarding Aryn Beranek, one of society’s richest woman.

Starving and desperate, Cade takes the job – and realizes the moment he sees Aryn that he’s made a terrible mistake. Not only does he want her more than he’s ever wanted anyone, her husband is the arms trafficker supplying the legendary despot known only as the Warlord of Ymir. And when the truth about her husband comes out, Aryn’s search for justice will force Cade to confront the one man he fears the most: himself.

From the slums of New Arizona to the mines of Ymir, Dragon’s Honor follows the journey of a man determined to save the only woman he has ever loved – a woman who has already decided to sacrifice herself to kill the Warlord.

Story Excerpt

“Cade Williams?”

The words came through the haze of smoke and drunkenness like a hallucination. Cade knew that voice. He was never, ever going to be able to forget that voice, and it had to be a hallucination because there was no way in hell the owner of that voice had chased him across three systems only to walk into a dive bar on the lower streets of New Arizona. So he went back to his drink.

He picked up the glass and stared at it. It was a scotch he’d been nursing for about three hours now, and not just because “scotch” seemed to be a loose term for colored grain alcohol. When he finished his drink, he had nowhere to go. And in the ever-drifting snow of New Arizona—he’d never figured out if the name was born of ignorance or irony—he needed to stay indoors as long as possible. The cold was fierce, and whatever acid was in the water on this planet, it would burn his skin raw in less than a night.

And if he didn’t get ten thousand credits to Osiris within a week, he was a dead man. But one thing at a time. Cade shook his head and let the moment slide away from him, a tiny drift into memory and nothing more.

“Williams,” the voice said again.

That was definitely not a hallucination. Cade’s eyes traveled along the arm that had come down on one side of him. Callused fingertips, last joint of the right index finger missing, the hint of a tattoo poking out from under a blue cuff. The arm underneath the suit jacket was well muscled, leading to broad shoulders and a clean-shaven jaw, and with a sinking feeling of dread, Cade looked up at one of his worst nightmares.

“Lieutenant Rift.”

“Actually, it’s Major now.” Talon’s face was expressionless, as it almost always was. He watched as Cade’s eyes traveled over the understated suit, across the planes of the handsome face. At last, sensing the question Cade would never ask, he flipped over the hand on his resting arm. There, glimmering in the faint light, were blood-red cufflinks.

A Dragon always wore red.

Talon absorbed Cade’s bitter smile in silence.

“You look surprisingly well.” Cade looked down into his scotch and considered drinking the rest in one gulp. The pours in this bar were generous, and with the alcohol being of dubious provenance, a gulp might well kill him. Right now, that wasn’t seeming so bad. It was all coming back to him—without warning, as it always did. He’d known the moment he heard the voice that this was going to be a bad night, even worse than he’d thought—and he’d already thought it would be pretty bad. There was screaming at the corner of his mind, the flashing of the lights in the bar taking on a reddish hue, the emergency exit sign too clear a reminder.

He closed his eyes, clenching his jaw until he thought his teeth would give way. He had to keep breathing, or the memories would take him, and the world would devolve into the chaotic mess he so feared, every face reminding him of the pods, the children pounding on the glass—

He was going to be sick. His stomach heaved.

“Should I go?”

“No.” Cade’s answer surprised even him. He opened his eyes and looked down into his drink again. He could force the world back into its neat shapes if he tried hard enough. In the vacuum of space, in the long silences of a courier’s job, he’d learned to face his fear and press it away.

He could face this, too.

“Okay.” Talon sat, pulled reflexively at both cuffs, and looked over at the bartender. “What won’t kill me here?”

“Don’t try the scotch.”

“Noted.”

Marvelous Monday Reads: Found in Flames

Happy Monday, folks! Today I have Rose Wulf on to talk about her new erotic romance Found in Flames, now available from Evernight Publishing and other online retailers of erotic romance. Take it away, Rose!

Hello everyone! I’m author Rose Wulf and I’m here today to tell you all about my latest release, Found in Flames! Found in Flames is Book 1.5 in my Night Shadows series, which is set in a world full of vampires, werewolves, witches, and humans called Slayers. This installment focuses on the powerful, sexy Luka Craige – Alpha werewolf with a mission – and unassuming, overworked Joella Harp – a human caught in the crossfire.

foundinflamesAll his life Luka Craige has been haunted by the witch that killed his family. Finally, having chased him across the country to the edge of vampire territory, Luka has his chance at vengeance. But not before his Beta is killed and Luka finds himself protecting a woman he doesn’t know. A woman who arouses him like never before. Could he possibly exact his revenge and find his mate?

A burning body was the last thing Joella Harp expected to find when she rounded the corner. Let alone a body with a man standing over it. After that her droll life becomes a whirlwind of werewolves, wild sex, and deadly fire. The witch wants her dead, she can barely think past her mouthwatering rescuer, and in no time she realizes this adventure could be more than a fantastical memory…. If she’s brave enough.

Story Excerpt

“Are you a werewolf?” she asked as soon as Luka came to a stop. He’d led her to a large, shallow cave a couple of rock formations away from the now-collapsed wolves. There was a small pile of clothes off to one side, just inside the mouth of the cave.

Luka turned to face her and lifted one thick brown brow high on his forehead. “Figured that out all on your own?”

Scrunching her nose at him, Joella crossed her arms and said, “Listen, I’m still attempting to accept that I haven’t just been drugged, okay? So could you try to be nice?”

“What if I told you you had been drugged?” he returned as he lowered himself to sit on the patches of grass near the center of the cave.

From his tone she couldn’t tell if he was joking. “That’s not funny,” she snapped, following him into the cave on reflex.

He was already sitting, one long leg stretched out and the other bent at the knee. The jeans looked sinfully good on him, and combined with the tight, muscle-revealing shirt, it was safe to say she was distracted. Still, she opted to blame her lack of sleep or food and, in an attempt to retain her sanity, she sat carefully a couple of feet away, facing him. “Let’s say I can swallow the ‘werewolf’ pill,” she allowed, “and the guy you saved me from, he’s a witch? Like, ‘abracadabra, hocus pocus’?”

Luka snorted and shook his head. “More like ‘fires of hell’,” he replied. “Witches have element-based powers. And the longer back the lineage traces, the stronger the witch.”

Shrugging as if that all made sense, and hoping someday it would, Joella asked, “But then why would this witch come after me?” A terrible thought occurred to her, then, and her hands flew over her mouth as she gasped. “Your friend… He wasn’t trying to protect me … was he?” Had she gotten a complete stranger killed? Would she be able to forgive herself if that were the case? And why on earth would she even need protection, let alone from a witch? It wasn’t like she had any enemies that she knew of….

“No,” Luka assured her, his voice harsh with pain he probably wouldn’t admit. He was glaring at the dirt somewhere beside his bare foot, and his glare never wavered as he elaborated. “Char will come after you simply because you interrupted him.”

Releasing an inappropriate breath of relief, Joella said, “I suppose that makes—wait, ‘Char’?” He’d said it like a name, but she had to have misheard him. Who names their baby ‘Char?’

“It’s an alias,” Luka said. He released a breath and lifted his dangerous eyes back to hers. “Witches never reveal their real names to their enemies. I only know what family he’s from by his scent.”

“This is ridiculous,” Joella mumbled. “Why did he…?” She couldn’t ask that. Whatever the answer, it wasn’t her business. Asking would just be hurtful. Especially if the almost-invisible wince she caught on Luka’s face was any indication. The hand hanging over his knee clenched in a tight fist and she could practically feel his anger. And for some inexplicable reason, she found that she didn’t like the sight. The pain in his eyes, in the tightness of his jaw, and the white-knuckled grip of his fist, it was all wrong. Everyone else had found comfort in each other. Why did Luka have to suffer in solitude? Did they blame him? Did he blame himself?

Whatever the reason, she disagreed with it powerfully. Human, werewolf, she didn’t care. Luka was a man with feelings, just like any other. And just like any other person who’d lost a good, close friend, the last thing he needed was to be alone. She was as sure of that as she was of the slowly rising sun.

She was moving before she could think better of it, letting one hand land solidly on his shoulder as she reached over and caught his chin with the other. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered when his slightly-widened eyes met hers. “Maybe if I’d gotten there a few seconds sooner…. Maybe I could’ve done something.”

Her words hung in the air and the tension in his shoulder slowly eased as he unclenched his fist. He held her eyes captive for several long, quietly intense seconds. Then his lips were crashing over hers, he’d tangled one hand in her shoulder-length hair, and her chest was pressing wholly into his. He was kissing her with a barely-contained ferocity that was both overwhelming and exhilarating. She was powerless as he sucked her lower lip into his mouth and nipped it with his teeth, and her blood was quickly coming to a boil as her body began to feel things it hadn’t felt in far too long. It was all she could do to keep up with the pace of his kiss, her arms instinctively winding around his neck.

His tongue swept into her mouth, stroking and sliding, demanding more from her even as his arm coiled around her waist and hauled her into his lap. She felt herself moan into his kiss as she let her fingers slip into his head of full, thick, chocolate-brown hair. The softness of his hair was in such stark contrast to the rest of him. The rest of him was deliciously hard and muscular, full of dangerous, primal promises. Promises her body was startlingly eager for him to fulfill. If he made love the way he kissed, a night with him would bring an entirely new definition of passion and pleasure. She’d certainly never been kissed the way he was kissing her.

He’d taken full possession of her mouth, one hand now fisted in her hair, the other cupping her ass and holding her tight against his chest. She could barely breathe and she absolutely could not get enough. Her tongue rolled shamelessly along his with every opportunity.

You know better, Ella, some piece of retained sanity whispered in the back of her mind. And oh how she wished that part of her were wrong. But it wasn’t and so, with more effort than she was willing to admit to needing, Joella pulled back from his hungry lips.

The moment she applied pressure to his shoulders, his grip loosened, and she watched, transfixed, as his Adam’s apple bobbed with a heavy swallow. She kept her hands on him, just under his shoulders, as she worked on catching her breath.

“Why,” she said with a gasp. “Why did you bring me here last night?”

Luka’s expression fell into a frown and his hands slid to her hips, but he made no effort to remove her from his lap. “I told you,” he said. “Char will come for you now.”

“Right,” she acknowledged, barely resisting the urge to dance her fingers around the collar of his shirt. He was way too distracting for her health. “But, why is that your concern? Why do you care about whether I live or die?”

About Rose Wulf

Rose Wulf is a giant romance fangirl. Hot, protective, sometimes even downright barbaric heroes and spitfire heroines are her favorites. Rose has been writing for as long as she can remember, and over the years she’s only grown fonder of it. The bonds between characters have always captivated her, and as an author those are Rose’s favorite things to play with – not always to the relief of her fictional babies!

Behind the scenes Rose is a quiet personality. She enjoys spending her non-writing time with her four year-old German Shepherd, Shadow, her mom, and her friends. Be it a fun game of Cards Against Humanity or a relaxing movie night, Rose believes everything is better with company. As for her own romance, she’s still searching for her hero (and hoping that, when she does find him, he’ll be willing to cook!).

Nicola’s Sunday Shoutout: Doris O’Connor

Today’s Sunday Shoutout goes to the magnificent Doris O’Connor, whose gorgeous new shifter romance Claimed by Her Viking Wolf is now available from Evernight Publishing and other purveyors of fine erotic romance. And now, here’s Doris!

asger

Thanks so much for having me on your blog today with my new release Claimed by her Viking Wolf. You know that phrase.

It started with a kiss.

Well, in my case, and that is true for a vast majority of my stories.

It started with a picture.

This one to be precise: ->

The lovely Kim posted that hunk in my reader group The RavDor Chicks, and my muse drooled. After some brainstorming in the group, we decided that he was a Viking and a wolf shifter. It all went from there, and Kim’s very own Viking story was born.

ClaimedbyHerVikingWolfWhen historical romance writer Kimberly Talbot finds a displaced, injured Viking at her campfire, her life sure starts to get complicated. She can’t leave him there. Besides, what sort of writer would she be if she didn’t take up this splendid opportunity for some hands on research of the sexy Viking god variety?

All she has to do is keep her heart out of the firing line.

Asger, son of Liufr wakes up in a strange, cursed land, out of time, injured, and unable to shift. Drawn to the fire of the flame haired kona by her intoxicating scent and the promise of food and shelter, he has no choice but to trust the woman his wolf claims is their mate, their válað, the very key to his return home.

He doesn’t belong in these strange times, but does Kim belong in his?

A choice has to be made…

Story Excerpt

Remembering a Burlesque Class she’d attended for research into a story a few years ago, she closed her eyes, and swung her hips to imaginary seductive music. Kim ran her hands slowly up underneath the hem of her blouse, exposing minute amounts of skin in slow motion, while continuing the sway of her hips.

Asger’s sharp intake of breath spurred her on. Letting go of the blouse she ran her hands over her breasts, cupping each heavy mound until she could thumb her own nipples. Shivers of delight chased across her skin, and her clit contracted in need.

A Norse curse made her open her eyes to find Asger had retreated to the stairs. Sitting down, with his legs spread wide, he watched her through hungry eyes, as he stroked his dick in slow moves mirroring the speed of her hands on her tits.

Emboldened she danced closer, slowly unbuttoning her blouse until it fell from her shoulders, and she threw it across to him. Asger caught it with a grin, and the bra that followed.

Seeing him lift the lacy contraption up to his nose and inhale deeply made Kim lose her stride. That was just so damn sexy, as was the way his cock jumped in his hand. The thick head glistened in pre-cum, and Kim licked her lips, desperate to taste him again.

A deep rumble rose from Asger’s chest. She tore her gaze away from the sight of his cock, ran it up the ridges that made up his abdomen, over the ink gracing his side and chest into the bearded column of his neck, and the proud lines of this warrior’s face up to his softly glowing eyes.

“Not that slow, kona. I want to see my cunt. I want to see it weep with its dew, ready for my tongue and my cock. I want to taste you, devour you, until your only thought is me. I want you.”

“God, yes, please, I want that, too.”

All finesse went out of the window as Kim unsnapped her jeans and yanked them down her legs, taking her sodden underwear with them. She stumbled in her haste to kick off her shoes and her jeans, and braced herself for impact. Instead of the floorboards coming to greet her, however, she found herself on the stairs draped over Asger’s knees. The first sharp slap of his hand on her ass cheeks stung like crazy.

“Ow, what was … ow.”

A second and third swat followed interspersed by the deep, menacing growl of his wolf. The vibrations of that sound trembled through her body and settled straight in her clit, so that the fourth, fifth, and sixth swats didn’t hurt. They set her ass on fire, for sure, but the pain added to her arousal. Again and again those blows came, until she lifted her butt into each one, and moaned her denial when he stopped. She was dimly aware of being lifted and the feel of the stairs carpet under her knees and forearms, as Asger moved her into position as though she weighed nothing. In this position cool air rushed across her swollen pussy lips.

“So beautiful with your red ass, and wet, sweet cunt. I want you to scream when you come against my tongue, do you hear me, kona? All the way up these stairs, and if you’re a good girl, you will get my cock. If not…”

Kim gasped and her knees buckled at the first bold swipe of Asger’s rough tongue along her exposed slit, and Asger chuckled into her swollen labia.

“We will just have to start all over again.”

Her clit quivered in need, and yet more of her juices trickled down the inside of her thighs. Asger lapped them up with an appreciative rumble, and then swatted her ass.

“Start crawling up one step, kona. I want to be comfortable for my meal of fresh cunt.

Oh, good lord. Is he going to make me crawl up these stairs with him eating me out? I’m never going to survive this.

Somehow she managed to follow that command, and several more licks of his far too talented tongue were her reward. Kim groaned and moaned as he took her up the rungs of arousal with every step they managed that way. When she slipped, his hands dug into her hips to hold her still, and seemingly satisfied with her, he renewed his efforts. Up and down her slit he lapped up her arousal. He nibbled and teased, and when he ran his tongue up to her anus and circled the tight ring of muscle, while simultaneously pushing two fingers into her wet channel, Kim did scream. Asger finger-fucked her with devastating precision, curling his digits until he found the spot designed to drive her wild with need.

Kim tensed, shook, and then exploded as her orgasm burst from her with an intensity that took her breath away, as his tongue breached her anus. With her ass up in the air, her elbows on the stairs, and his broad shoulders supporting her body she was spread obscenely wide and unable to move—completely at the mercy of this man—as he wrung every last shudder out of her. Only then did he withdraw his fingers, and swatted her butt cheeks again several times in quick succession.

“Start crawling, kona, if you want my cock. He’s mighty eager to sink into your body, but only if you do as you’re told.”

Fabulous Friday Reads: Trusting Stone

TGIF! Let’s kick off the weekend with Alexa Sinclaire’s new novel Trusting Stone, now available from Evernight Publishing and other purveyors of fine erotic romance. Take it away, Alexa!

TrustingStone-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-banner1

trustingstoneEden Walker used to be a good girl. She followed the rules, obeyed her parents, and reaped the benefits. Until the night one wrong step showed her that all that glitters is not gold. Now she’s starting over, trying to do things on her own terms and find the passion she’s only dreamt about.

Sebastian Stone never expected to find love. His past is too painful for him to imagine letting someone in enough to love. He’s happy focusing on his security company and he’s happy with his one-night-stands. Until he bumps into Eden, a blast from his past.

Sebastian makes Eden realize she’s still scared to follow the passion she knows is missing from her life. Eden is the woman for him, but can Sebastian convince Eden to follow her dreams all the way through? Or will circumstances beyond her control pull them apart?

Story Excerpt

The car shifted into motion and Sebastian pressed a button, raising the privacy screen between the driver and the backseat. Eden’s debutante training was beginning to kick in and she started to speak.

“I don’t know how to thank…” But before she could finish the sentence, he was on her.

Sebastian’s lips pressed against hers with a gentleness that didn’t seem to match the cool blue eyes that had been watching her moments ago. His hands caressed her hair and Eden found herself responding. She kissed back, opening her mouth to let his tongue gently sweep in. That act of acceptance acted like a trigger and Sebastian’s soft kiss turned ferocious. His hands gripped her hair, angling her head as his mouth assaulted hers. But she responded in turn and her hands reached to grasp his forearms, pulling him into her even more.

With one hand still lost in her hair, his right hand started moving, sliding down her neck, traveling over the smooth black silk of her dress until it cupped her breast. Eden moaned in surprise and desire. She should have been afraid, but she wasn’t. For the first time in years, she wanted this, wanted this man who she barely knew caressing her, touching her, turning her on. She pushed forward with her body, signaling to him that he had permission, wanting him to do more, giving herself to him. She could feel herself getting wet and she sucked in air as his mouth broke away from their embrace and moved down her face, kissing her neck and exposed skin along her shoulder.

The electricity she had felt in the hall when he had simply grazed her shoulder with his fingers was now magnified as his lips and tongue danced across her skin, and her body felt like it was on fire. His touch seemed to ignite and yet quench the flames that shot through her. His hand moved from her breast, sweeping down her waist, cupping her ass and pulling her even closer. She moaned into his hair as his mouth continued to caress and nuzzle her neckline. She was lost in his touch and his scent, her senses overwhelmed.

Suddenly, he pulled away and Eden tried to regain her composure, gasping for air, smoothing her dress as he leaned across her to open the door. She hadn’t even realized they had stopped. How long had they been driving? It had felt like only seconds.

Thank you for having me today and sharing my new release with your readers! Insurmountable, an erotic suspense, releases November 23, 2015 from Evernight Publishing.

Insurmountable-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-smallpreviewKidnapped because of her father’s wrongdoings, Bianca Fontaine is interrogated for any hint of his whereabouts by a man she has no reason to be drawn to. Who falls for their kidnapper? Especially an arrogant, hard man who is bound by duty—with those intriguing soft and caring qualities he hates to show. Ellis Valiant is indeed a hard man, but he’s already destroyed Bianca’s world and could make it worse if he doesn’t send her away. But when he finds her exploring her submissive side in the sex club fronting for his organization, his noble efforts fall by the wayside and he steps up as her Dom. Except Ellis harbors a secret, an insurmountable one, and Bianca will surely hate him when it comes to light.

Story Excerpt

Her head felt packed with puffed cotton and there was a definite thump in her temples. Bianca tried to swallow and the dryness made her grimace. She managed to get her right hand to obey her and cautiously reached to touch her head. It was present and accounted for, and the headache ratcheted up to a drumroll. Lord, she felt horrible and thought she might be sick. As she struggled to rise up on one elbow, the pinch of soreness made her wince, and a few things came back in one breath stealing surge.

“Here.” Ellis’s voice intruded and he leaned in to where she could see him through barely cracked eyelids. He had a glass of water in his hand and her body cried out for the moisture. Then she wondered what else was in it and held back, closing her mouth tightly.

“It’s only water.” He took a sip and offered it again, but she wasn’t touching anything anyone here offered. Ellis stared impassively.

With a start, she remembered the restraints, and realized she was no longer held in place. With nothing to prevent it, she rolled sluggishly away from him, and slipped off the bed, nearly falling, but somehow braced her weight against the mattress. She watched him warily, and aside from the straight line his mouth drew, he remained impassive.

Setting the glass down, he motioned to it and some towels on the nightstand. “I thought you’d want to wipe your face and quench your thirst when you … woke.”

Ah, more euphemisms. She felt her upper lip lift in a sneer and hoped Ellis marked it. Thoughts whirled through her head and she couldn’t grab onto one of them. She then judged the distance to the bathroom and wondered if her wobbly legs would get her there before Ellis intercepted her.

As if reading her mind, he stood. “You’ll be on your ass and I’m not letting you hurt yourself.”

A burble of incongruous laughter erupted from her belly and she tasted bile as she backed away. “You’re such a joke.”

Ellis was on her, that something unfamiliar now flashing across his face, and he scooped her up, déjà vu, only hustled her straight to the toilet. On her knees, Bianca retched, but miraculously everything settled without humiliating her further, and she dragged herself up with Ellis’s help. The chill of the porcelain bowl helped her focus.

“Stubborn wench.”

Flipping the lid down, he sat her on it with a thump, telling her to lean back. He grabbed a towel and wet one end of it. She accepted it and covered her face, willing him to leave. How had she ever thought to best this man at anything? Or shame him, for that matter, in appealing to his conscience. He was made of granite, now any need for the soft sell was over. It might be the aftereffects of the truth drugs, but she once again felt like a child. She knew he was still standing there. She could feel him and smell him, that scent she was beginning to associate with Ellis, like she was his dog or something. A bizarre vision of her in a collar, panting at his feet,

“You need a shower.”

Well, thank you, Captain Obvious. She longed to say that out loud but it might unlock the tenuous hold she had on all the things yearning to spill out—and peel the flesh from Ellis’s very bones. Like that would ever happen. So she bit her tongue, because she’d already called him a joke. Enough said.

“Save me from pretentious twits.” She heard him murmur it, as though he’d gritted his teeth.

A startled yelp escaped as Ellis took two strides and ripped her shirt open. Buttons popped free and pinged off the sparkling surfaces. One ricocheted off her forehead and she blinked. So not like the romance books. Gah, what was in those drugs?

“Get your jeans off unless you want me to do it.”

Scrabbling to pull the sides of her shirt together over her chest, she watched as he worked the taps, opening them wide and adjusting the spray of the shower until he appeared satisfied. The way his brows drew together when he turned to see her still fully dressed made her shiver. She loosened her grip on her shirt and fumbled with the snap on her jeans. It refused to give and her heart leapt into her throat when Ellis, with an impatient grunt, pushed her hands aside and freed it without any problem, tugging the zipper down.

“Up.”

She giggled this time, unable to contain the sound, and felt her eyes go wide at the incongruous sound. Sit. Stay. Down. Good doggie. She managed to stand, once again with help, and Ellis dragged her jeans to her ankles.

“You’re still impaired.”

Thank you, Mr. Observant. Maybe she said that out loud, because he stiffened. But when she dared a look, he was staring at her … panties. His head almost immediately tilted up and he met her gaze. She heard him mutter something about stupidity, and tried to muster up some indignation, but her head throbbed harder and she felt terrible.

Thinking he was trying to hug her, she put her hands between them to push him back, and felt him snap open her bra. She pressed her hands back against the cups and protested. “Don’t.”

“So you’ll talk if your clothes come off. Well, don’t worry about it, sweetheart. There’s nothing left for you to say.” Smirking, Ellis tugged her toward the shower and pushed her inside. “Do you need help?”

“No.” Killing was too good for him. He needed to suffer, and she hoped she found an opportunity to inflict it on him.

Marvelous Monday Reads: Calculated Risk

Happy Monday, folks! Today I have Michelle Roth on to talk about her new story “Calculated Risk,” now available in the hot new anthology Men for Hire. Take it away, Michelle!

Hi there, everyone! I’m Michelle Roth and I’m here to introduce my latest release, “Calculated Risk.” It’s a part of the Men For Hire anthology! If you or your readers have any questions for the authors, feel free to use the #menforhireantho hashtag on Twitter and we’ll reach out to you with answers!

I’m working with three other fantastic authors! Here’s the line up of stories:

“Got Muscle” by Tina Donahue
“Menage at Mealtime” by Bella Settarra
“Calculated Risk” by Michelle Roth
“Marital Duties” by Jennifer Denys

image2Stella Whitman has inherited her mother’s country home. When she finds it in utter disrepair, her cousin suggests that she call Men for Hire in search of a handyman. When he arrives, she’s somewhat shocked to find that his deep brown eyes and rugged good looks are giving her some very inappropriate thoughts.

Despite his instant attraction to Stella, Ian Starling has convinced himself that they need to keep things strictly professional. He’s been burnt before and has vowed never again. It becomes increasingly more difficult as he gets to know her, though. Then one rainy night changes everything…

Story Excerpt

She raised her hips and worked them against his hand, and moaned, “I want you inside me, Ian. Be inside me. I ache.”

He removed his fingers from her, a pained look on his face and said, “I didn’t exactly plan for this. I don’t have a condom. I really hope you’ve got one.”

“I do,” Stella said. She rolled over and pulled an unopened box from the bedside table. Opening it, she tore one off the strip and handed it to him.

Without any further ado, he tore open the package and rolled it over his hard length. He settled himself in between her thighs, his cock nudging against her opening. With one hand, he framed her face. The other guided him slowly inside her.

When he was buried fully inside her, she wrapped her legs around his waist and rolled her hips experimentally against him. She felt so full. So stretched.

The groan that left Ian sounded almost pained. His eyes fluttered closed as he said, “Don’t move, or this will be over quickly, Stella. It’s been a while since…”

Stella saw the strain on his face and the words just fell from her lips, “For me too. I’m already on the edge. You have no idea how badly I’ve wanted this.”

Ian shook his head as he began to slowly work his hips against hers. He said, “I know, Stella. Every single time I saw those pouty lips of yours, I couldn’t help but think of them wrapped around my cock. That beautiful round ass of yours. I kept picturing it rosy pink from the palm of my hand. I wanted to fuck your tight little pussy with my tongue, my fingers, my cock … until you screamed so loud you were hoarse from it. And then I wanted to do it all over again.” His hips slapped against hers now, punctuating each word as he said, “I—have—every—idea.”

Marvelous Monday Reads: Club Beam (Beyond Fairytales)

Yeah, yeah, I know — it’s Monday. Again. But all is not lost, as today we’re taking a look at Erzabet Biship’s gorgeous new book Club Beam, now available from Decadent Publishing and other purveyors of erotic romance. Take it away, Erzabet!

When I first contacted Decadent Publishing to inquire about their fairy tale line I was assigned a story called “The Beam.” I looked it up and found out it was about a wizard who is bested by a woman and he exacts his revenge. Whenever I encounter a new project like this, I have to sit down and think about what all the moving parts mean. In this case, how to turn a story like this into a modern romance that readers would find appealing. Since I tend to write urban fantasy slanted pieces, I immediately laser beamed in on the wizard and witch part. I mean, how cool is that to have a ready-made story ripe for the picking? I just had to add some modern twists. What would be more modern than a witchy karaoke event and fairy tale fetish night?

Sci Spanks 2015 coverThe process of writing for me is an organic one. It begins with a legal pad and a series of colorful sticky notes and a foam board. I start thinking about the chapters and what needs to happen to make the story move and there you go-plot points on sticky notes I can adjust as needed. It works too. Sydney had lots of thoughts on where she wanted to go and believe me, she is still in there talking. The second book in the Shadow World series is already writing itself (think dragon shifters and a psychic) and I can see the fireworks shaping up nicely.

Check out further adventures with Master Gideon and Sydney in Sci Spanks 2015, now available on Amazon. You might just get invited for a session behind the Red Door. Master Gideon has a paddle and he’s ready to play. There will be more where that came from, you can count on that…

I hope you will enjoy the introduction to my Shadow World series and return to Club Beam for many more adventures. I am happy to share that the audio book is now in the works.

ClubBeamIn the Shadow World, nothing is as it seems.

Detective Sydney Marr is having a very bad day. Her boss is on the warpath, she’s being treated for a werewolf bite, and her current case has hit a dead end. When her friend Erika talks Syd into going with her to Club Beam, she jumps at the chance, even if it means spending an evening without her spell arsenal. A high-class vampire bar and fetish club, Club Beam is fantasy made real.

Club owner and Dom Gideon Raines spies the red-haired beauty and is transfixed. A fight against a skillful murderer brings war for fae and vampire alike. Sometimes when you play with monsters, the monsters play back.

Story Excerpt

“Once upon a time….” Erika sang and waggled her eyebrows. “Come on, Sydney. Live a little. This club is smoking hot, and you’ll love it.”

Sydney grumbled under her breath and watched the club-goers parade past, each dressed like a fairy-tale character. The Little Mermaid trounced by in a see-through, diaphanous gown revealing too much in the way of personal attributes. Sleeping Beauty sashayed down the sidewalk with a leash around the neck of her Prince Charming. A woman in a way-too-short Red Riding Hood outfit approached. Her arm was wrapped around a seductress dressed in wolf ears, a tail, and a skimpy thong-style bikini. Red carried a basket full of what looked like pink fuzzy handcuffs and a can of whipped cream, which she swung into Syd.

“Hey!”

The red-cloaked vixen sent her a wink and traipsed on by, joined by a near-pornographic version of the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland. Any shorter and the skirt would show her naughty bits. Or maybe that was the plan.

Syd had just gotten off her day shift as a detective, and the last thing she wanted to do was be around more people. Especially people with more skin showing than on late-night cable shows. Her head hurt from the lights and the pulse of the music, and her stupid witch costume was pinching her toes. Erika’s scant fairy costume hugged all her curves, her breasts bursting from the bodice. The skirt barely covered her backside, and the strappy silver sandals showed off her silver-glitter nail polish.

The building loomed next to them. A giant warehouse-like structure, it was large enough to house all manner of mischief, and Syd was itching with the desire to get inside and find out just what was going on behind its doors. The sidewalk was flagged by trees lit up with twinkly white lights, adding an upscale ambiance to the area. What in the daylight looked like an industrial area gone to the dogs had been transformed into an attractive and well-attended venue.

She didn’t have the heart to tell Erika she’d been here once already today for the case she was working on, but the entrance had been sealed up tighter than a drum. Sydney’s recourse was to infiltrate Club Beam by night as a patron. Her sergeant, Debra, would kill her if she realized Syd had even considered going in without backup. So would her partner, James. Erika had asked her to come so she wouldn’t be alone, and, despite herself, Syd couldn’t resist. To catch a vampire, you had to go out at night, and Club Beam was the hot spot. After last month’s fuckup, she had to do this and do it right, even if it killed her. James was on medical leave, and it remained up to her to get this guy before someone else got killed or turned furry.

I will not think about becoming one of the terminally furry. It’s over. Move on. Take the pills the doctor gave you and freaking pray.

“Oh look. I think I see Snow White.” Erika stood on her tiptoes and craned her head along the huge expanse of line they still had to navigate to get inside.

Syd peered into the crowd and grimaced. Hairy legs. More makeup than a Mac commercial. “Nope. That was a guy in drag.”

Erika narrowed her eyes. “God, Syd. You’re the world’s biggest wet blanket ever.”

Sydney shifted her weight and moved another two steps toward the door as the line inched forward. “I told you, I’ve had a hard day. We had a homicide case come in, and I’ve been out beating the street. I want to go home and bury my head under my pillow. But, no. Out of the kindness of my heart, here I am standing in line at a vampire bar with a bunch of overgrown kids playing dress-up in fairy-tale fetish wear.”

Nicola’s Sunday Shoutout: Bad Alpha @evernightpub #badalpha #eroticromance

Bad Alpha and Bad Alpha: Manlove Edition feature a select collection of stories with shifters so ruthless they will stop at nothing to protect their pack. These aren’t sugar-and-spice heroes. Our alphas are feared, inked, and don’t ask questions first. They take what they want, never give in to their enemies, and think love is for the weak—until they meet their mate. Are you ready to learn how to tame a savage heart?

BAANthos

Hey folks, Nicola here! I am extremely delighted to host both of Evernight Publishing’s newest anthologies today (and not just because I have a story in one of them). I asked some of the authors to tell me what inspired their stories about bad alphas and the mates who love them.

DecorativeLine

Doris O’Connor

From the minute the submission call for the Bad Alpha Anthology went up, I knew I would have to write something. I love shifters and bad boys. Combine the two…yes, I could not resist that, so it wasn’t a huge surprise when I woke up one morning with bear shifter Zayden growling in my ear.

He was a sought after assassin, and he came to me mid kill of his latest assignment. Cynical, deadly, this killer for hire has no time for tender feelings, let alone a mate, so when he finds out that the Alpha he’s been hired to kill, is his mate.

In his words…

Quinton Thorn was his fucking mate. The universe was having a great big laugh at his fucking expense. He’d come here to kill his mate. His bear roared at the mere thought, and Zayden shook his head. He could no more kill the man than he could have killed his own mother. He wasn’t a complete fucking animal, but the new tender feelings that had coursed through him when he’d shaken Quinton’s hand meant he felt like a fish out of water. He knew how to kill and fuck, but he had no idea what to do about these emotions.

Such a delicious conflict. What would Quinton do when he finds out that his mate is a killer?

JoeGaspardWhen the call for submissions was announced for Bad Alpha: Manlove, I mulled it over for approximately 10 seconds before deciding, “Yep! It’s time to throw your hat into the horror/supernatural ring.” Later that evening, while picking out a movie to watch, my husband mentioned that the myth behind the 2001 French movie Le pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) might be fun to somehow incorporate into a story. So off I went, down the Google rabbit hole. There is a ton of info out there with regard to the Beast of Gévaudan. And with so much actual fact mixed up nicely with the fiction, the idea became all that more appealing. My story, “Destined”, didn’t take long to work its way onto paper (especially with Joe Manganiello and Gaspard Ulliel taking shape in my head as Marick and Caleb, respectively!)

Marvelous Monday Reads: The Rhythm (Living Victorious Book 1)

Yes, it’s Monday once again! But let’s turn that work week frown upside down with Moira Callahan’s hot new book The Rhythm (Living Victorious Book 1), now available from Evernight Publishing and other purveyors of erotic romance. Take it away, Moira!

TheRhythm-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-banner3

TheRhythm-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-smallJennifer Mitchell has only one goal in mind—she must get an interview with the band Victorious. It’s a task many journalists have attempted over the last ten years, only to be shot down by the band’s manager. The fact she desperately wants to meet their drummer has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Being the drummer for Victorious allows Lance West to remain out of the spotlight, and still have an important role in creating the music their fans clamor for. Then he meets Jennifer. While she may be focused on an exclusive interview, Lance has other ideas for the sexy woman.

Screaming fans and thunderous applause might warm his blood, but Lance only wants one woman to warm his bed night after night. She is everything to him, the rhythm that soothes his scarred soul, and he’ll do whatever it takes to prove it.

Story Excerpt

His hand moved to wrap around her throat forcing her chin up. She didn’t feel threatened. It had her knees wobbling, and her pussy throbbing in need. “I actually do need to say them, Jennifer. It’s a driving need to try and explain to you what I’m thinking and feeling.” He stroked his thumb over her pulse tenderly while staring down at her.

Swallowing, she pressed her hands lightly to his chest, her fingers stroking over the tight muscle until she settled them on the waist of his jeans. “Why?” she asked. She wasn’t entirely sure what she was asking either. Popping the top button loose, she worked her way down the line of buttons until his jeans gaped open. She quickly discovered he was going commando under his jeans when she rubbed a finger to the short curls at his groin.

At her throat, his hand flexed. His pupils dilated, and his breathing turned sharper. “Because we’re connected. On a level I can’t begin to describe, in a way I’m not sure I can comprehend. All I know is that you are important and that means you need to know exactly how I feel about you. All of you.”

His words hit her hard. No one had said anything of the sort to her before. There was a deeper meaning behind them. She wasn’t ready to dissect them yet, but later she knew she would. All she could do right then was fist the front of his jeans and push to her toes to kiss him. She didn’t have any words to give back, her mind, and tongue too tied in knots to try. But she could maybe make him understand that she got it with a kiss.

The hand at her throat slid around into her hair as he deepened the kiss. His tongue slid over hers to tangle with it. Moaning into the kiss, she pushed at his jeans until gravity took over.

She felt him shift to kick them away, and then his body was pressed up tight against hers. With the hand in her hair and the other that landed on her ass, he began to move her. Until she felt the bed at the backs of her legs, she hadn’t cared where he was guiding her. In that moment, she needed him with a growing ferocity that scared her.

Twisting, she pushed him to his back on the mattress. A knee next to his hip helped her up to straddle him. Then their mouths were fused together again. Another moan tore from her as he rolled, and pushed them further up on the bed. The sensations bombarding her when he settled his body to hers nearly had her coming apart at the seams.

It had been too long since she’d had the intimate touch of a man. But never, not once, had she truly felt this in tune with another person as she did with Lance. Both a terrifying and extremely liberating sensation. Now if only she could convince him to move things along.

About Moira Callahan

Moira Callahan is a Canadian born and raised author. She loves to write, and only has a few select criteria that have to be in each of her books. A great story, steamy romance, and a HEA ending. The sub-genre isn’t as important to her as making whatever she writes feel real, and in the moment to her readers.

To that end she insists her characters be as real as everyday folks, even if they are blessed with a little fictional fairy dust to make them anyone’s personal fantasy. They must have faults, they must have a weakness, and they must have soul. To that end she writes her characters with a mixture of traits – a dash from herself, and something borrowed from a friend. This way the character is as perfectly imperfect as any other person on the planet.
