So I was cleaning up the website tonight, following the advice of David Gaughran that my website is my digital homestead and the one place I can control completely. I got all the new covers for the Olympic Cove books up, tweaked the sidebar with the latest pubs, and did some tidying of comments.

Then I remembered that I kept getting messages that my blog posts were no longer getting cross-posted to my Facebook page and I might want to do something about that. Opened Jetpack, refreshed the connection and added one to my BlueSky account (I was tempted to add my LinkedIn account but I still need a day job and cooler heads prevailed), then glanced a little further down the menu and saw Newsletter.

Huh? I mean, I HAVE a newsletter through MailChimp. But what was this newsletter dealie that was included in Jetpack?

Imagine my shock when I realized that people who had subscribed to this site were getting my blog posts in newsletter format. I don’t know how I feel about that—blathering on my blog is one thing, but I’m not sure if I want said blather to be shoehorned into a subscriber’s email inbox. Lord knows we get so much damn spam these days, does anyone really want to get a notice that I posted something on the blog?

So if I’ve been spamming you with my blog posts, I do apologize. I had no idea that they were being converted into newsletters and sent out to your inboxes. If you like getting them, that’s one thing, but the last thing I want to be doing is annoying folks.
