Surfacing for air

Whoo. Sorry about that. This has been an insane few days.

Firstly, Ramón headed off to Pittsburgh to see a friend of ours play roller derby so there was much running around getting him packed and off to the airport. Secondly, I made a command decision last Friday about changing the cover for Degree of Resistance. As much as I love it, and I do, it just doesn’t follow the visual language for science fiction romance and I think that’s been torpedoing sales.

So I redesigned the cover to make it read more SFR (read: shirtless guy with a lens flare in the middle of his chest to make him more cyborgy and a futuristic background). The feedback from various FB groups dedicated to SFR declared this much more in line with the genre and was described as “ab-tastic,” so I’ve been adding it to all the assorted file formats and getting them uploaded to Amazon, Smashwords, Pronoun, etc. A few eagle-eyed commenters also noticed the placement of the resistor symbol, asking if it was intentional. I must admit that no, that was purely accidental, but if it draws readers’ attention to that area I’m all for it.

Now that this particular task is done, I can get back to finishing up Lady of Thorns and Cross Current. I’ll be putting up LoT for pre-order at the end of the month so keep an eye out for that, and I’ll let you know when Cross Current will be available.

Okay, back to work, tra la!

About Nicola Cameron

Nicola Cameron has had some interesting adventures in her life -- ask her sometime about dressing up as Tietania, Queen of the Bondage Fairies. When not writing, she wrangles cats, makes dolls of dubious and questionable identity, and thanks almighty Cthulhu that she doesn’t have to work for a major telecommunications company any more (because there’s BDSM, and then there’s just plain torture...).
